Hi! I'm Miki Rae and I'm a singer-songwriter local to the Reno-Tahoe area. I was born and raised in Gardnerville, NV, and I've been performing music professionally for the past 8 years. I started playing the guitar originally when I was in the fourth grade, and ever since then, it's been my number one passion. I'm so lucky to have been surrounded by musicians and great music my whole life- my dad played the bass in multiple local bands and inspired me to play music as well. In 2017, I learned to play the ukulele and I've been in love with this instrument ever since. I've had the privilege of traveling and performing in New Zealand, Nashville, and most recently, Maui. Music is my life, my most honorable passion, and basically my everything.

I have professionally recorded songs on all music platforms, both solo and with my old band Taking Root; all of these songs have been recorded with the help of Tom Gordon from Imirage Sound Lab in Reno, NV. My most recent recorded song was a family recording featuring my father Jimmy Garrison on bass, my younger brother Liam Garrison on saxophone, my cousin Garrett Baker on lead guitar, and Jordan Weihskopf on drums- this song "Lonely People" was released in March of 2023. I now perform with my new band Miki Rae and The Hooligans, and it consists of Rob Wheeler from Lavish Green and Tahoe Tribe on bass, Garrett Moore from False Rhythms on guitar, and Robbie Wheeler also from False Rhythms on drums. I'd describe my/our music as Island Reggae- happy fun vibes! I'm so blessed to be performing with these amazing musicians who I can also call my family.
